Most Chinese entrepreneurs assume the biggest hurdle is translation. We spend hours polishing English versions, hiring native speakers, checking grammar. But in Bucharest, the real friction happens before the words even reach the page.

Here’s what I learned—broken down into four layers.

I sent my first contract in Word (.docx), double-spaced, with Chinese-style indentation and bold headers. The Romanian partner replied: “This looks like a template from a free website. Can you send it as PDF? And can we see the page numbering?”

  2. Add these mandatory fields in header (left-aligned)

    • Contract Title: “Service Agreement for [Service Description]”
    • Contract ID: “SA-RO-2026-001” (your own numbering system)
    • Date: “Issued on [Date]”
    • Parties: Full legal names of both companies (as registered in Romania)
